All future updates, videos etc will be posted on my brand new web site and blogging platform at www.thetaster.co.uk . I will no longer be using tumblr for The Taster - but I will continue my personal tumblr blog “Tut’s Palace”. Thanks to tumblr for hosting the first episodes of The Taster!
Anonymous asked: Do you have synesthesia for taste James?
I don’t think so - it’s just the association of Sauvignon Blanc (particularly New Zealand SB) with the colour turquoise!
Episode 3 looks at the 3 red ‘noble’ grapes (video ends a bit abruptly after I’ve rated the wines due to time constraints!). You can also see the video at YouTube - link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olyyKh2PWn4 .
In Episode 2, I look at white wines and the type of grapes used to make them - tasting Jacob’s Creek’s Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling.
Episode 2 this weekend
The Taster episode 2 will be up this weekend, looking at contrasting favours between white wine varietals. I’ll probably go for a comparison of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling all from the same producer (which may be Jacob’s Creek as its very widely available). By using the same producer I can concentrate on the unique qualities of the 3 grapes, taking producer’s style and methods etc out of the picture. Stock up and check it out this weekend!
Anonymous asked: its me Bill, I'm not sure if your mentioning which brands of drink you are tasting?
Hi Bill. Yes I will be mentioning brands most weeks, and will also rate them out of 20. For the first week though, it was more an intro and I didn’t want it to turn into a “review”. May be same for next couple of episodes too.
Thanks for the feedback
Thanks to everyone that checked out my first videoblog at http://blip.tv/file/4640507 and nice to get some positive feedback. Video is also on YouTube now at http://www.youtube.com/user/thetasteruk - had to chop it in half as apparently there’s a 15 min limit I didn’t know about. If you’re interested you can keep up with my blogging project by following my blog here on tumblr, and by following me on www.twitter.com/thetasteruk
By the way it’s great fun learning about all this blogging stuff and I’d recommend it to anyone - good way to talk about your favourite things and maybe meet some new people!
